Pennsic Songs (AUDIO) Festival of Maidens 2016 Bardic Circle Written and performed by: Dame Marie la Fauconniere An anthem in honor of that most sacred SCA pilgrimage: Pennsic. Poem: Hark the drums beat out for war The heroes come from eastern shore And western hills the noble Thegns Of rolling golden sunward plains Spur onward for hidden dell they seek An annual quest for Pennsic week. Carts and wagons loaded high with gear and armor clatter by Kings and Queens in bright array Send forth their champions to the fray And armies muster to test their skill In friendly battle on Pennsic's hill. Both bardic chatter, play, and sing draw back and loose the tensioned spring feast and make merry, ply a trade, seek ancient knowledge in tented shade, dance in the glow of campfires bright, that beckon wayfarers through Pennsic's night We who heed war's clarion call Are oath-bound, brothers, sisters, all To pursue glory, uphold the right Prize friendship and sterling honor bright Our dream unfolds when banners fly And beauty fills the Pennsic sky |
