Mid-Realm Bardic Madness VIII Classes |
|
|---|

We've now filled the class schedule for Bardic Madness South VIII.
Barring surprises, this is the class schedule for this year.
| SCA Anthropology | Owen Alun | The story of how the SCA came into existence has a powerful impact on the roles that we play in the SCA, the stories and songs that are most requested, and the ways in which our performances matter. This class discusses the different themes in the SCA creation story and how they resonate through modern activities and events. |
| Bardic Habitat Restoration Project - or, how to increase the bardic heard. | Cerian Cantwr | Round table discussion about ways to encourage and support the bardic arts in your area. |
| Bodhran 101 | Garraed Galbraith | Introductory class on how to play an Irish bodhran drum. |
| Vocal Master Class | Eleanor Fairchild | Techniques to improve your performance - diction, projection, breath control, etc. |
| Bardic Role in SCA | Owen Alun | The role of the bard in SCA society is both similar and different from the role the bard played in various period social structures. We will discuss these similarities and differences and how a proper understanding of them helps uncover performance opportunities and subjects for new work. |
| Music & Poetry - two great tastes that go great together | Garraed Galbraith | This is a class that will examine the relationship between composition and lyric. Practically, we will try to help you get a find the right sound for your words and discuss why it would work or might not. |
| Story Telling Master Class | Brion Enkazi | We'll take a few pieces that people are working on and put them through carve-sand-and-polish together, the idea being that everyone will learn how it's done. Theory and practice all in one! |
| Building a Bardic Book | Eliane Halevy | How to find material to build up your bardic repertoire. |
